Art Journaling

Recently I've returned to art journaling.

I was intrigued by all the fuss about keeping a Gratitude Journal.

So I began jotting down (mostly small) things in my life for which I am grateful.  Well, after a month, I can testify the process is rather like a magic pill!  Daily thoughts about how good life is right now have become pervasive throughout the day and the results are noticeable.

It's a practice I want to continue.

The journal space here is behind the 'tip-in' of my drawing on the right.

Of course, I had to begin making my own journal pages.  Here are a few that I have done up in advance so they are ready for journaling.

Scribbling, doodling, drawing, collage, getting messy with paint, inks, stamps, and washi tape - anything goes.

As long as it's fun!

This is a tribute to my mom and her sisters.  And to all our departed moms and aunts who are missed.

This poem reminds me of their lives.

They seemed to all take off
at once.  Aunt Grace
whose kidneys closed shop,
Cousin Rose who fed sugar
to diabetes,
my grandmother’s friend
who postponed going so long
we thought she’d stay.

It was like the summer years ago
when they all set out on trains
and ships, wearing hats with veils
and the proper gloves,
because everybody was going
someplace that year,
and they didn’t want
to be left behind.

Mr. Toad

This week's challenge at the Three Muses is to incorporate an animal into our artwork.  The only restriction is that it mustn't include cats or dogs.  Fun!

Blue and White

This color combo - blue and white - is the theme for this week's Take A Word challenge.

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Spring is the theme for this week at Sunday Postcard Art.

Altered from a photo I took on a rainy day in Central Park.
