Times Gone By

Nostalgia is the theme for this week's Sunday Postcard Art challenge.  We were encouraged to incorporate family photos into our art.

This is my Mom visiting East Berlin (a bit of a risk during the Cold War years!).  She was a young vivacious wife and mother when my Air Force officer dad was stationed in post-war Germany.   She spoke of this time often and I do believe it was the best time of her life.

Thanks for the chance to share her happiness.

    1. She was! She loved to tell the story of that day. She was on a bus in Berlin that skirted East Berlin and she asked the driver to stop and let her off. He said it wasn't permitted but agreed to 'slow down' so she could jump off. And she did!

My mother left Germany in 1948 and came to the UK to train as a nurse..she met my father at a local dance, he was stationed nearby..a beautiful love story that she told me often.
