Botannical

Botanical is the theme for this week's Take A Word challenge.

I did a glue resist background (make circles out of glue, let dry overnight, then rub with a baby wipe and add watered-down paint). Added the text and a long-ago sketched flower, then blended.

Thanks for stopping by!

Doris Visits Pisa

The theme for this week at the Sunday Postcard Art Challenge is to alter an actual postcard.  Here is the original.

And the altered version.

Our little mutt, Doris, likes to explore - and this time she's off to Italy to visit Pisa's famous slanty Tower.

Anatomy Lessons

For this week's Sunday Postcard Art Challenge - ANATOMY.

OK, my first thought was all those stacks of books, and hours in the classroom in graduate and undergraduate anatomy and physiology courses. (I'm a Nurse Practitioner). So I decided to go with my first reaction.

I loved the learning, but it was ... intense.

Now I'm learning how to draw faces (also a lesson in anatomy)! I sketched her on a dictionary page, used colored pencils, then scanned. The background is scanned from torn strips of some of my doodled gelli prints.

Square Peg's Scooter

For the Three Muses weekly challenge - TRANSPORTATION

I immediately thought of this fabulous Italian Scooter image I've been dying to use.  It seemed to go with my art doll I call Square Peg.

She's having a swinging time with her new toy!

Fly Girl

For this week's fun Take A Word challenge - FLY.

Meet Doris - our sassy little chihuahua mix.  We never know what she's up to!

That's why we call her Doris the Exploress!

Baroque

An interesting challenge this week at Sunday Postcard Art - baroque.

This is the Cesky Opera House built in the 17th century deep inside a private castle in what is now the Czech Republic.

When I think of the Baroque era, the soaring intricate architectural edifices come first to mind.

Secondly, I think of the unimaginable human toil and sacrifice it took to build such structures.

Bathing Beauty

For the Three Muses Challenge.

This piece reminds me of how it felt when the sun dipped below the horizon on the beach but you just didn't want to leave.

Good Vibes

Just messing around with some homemade elements including the Gelli plate background.  Looks like a t-shirt design.

Walter

Everyone knew that Walter never felt entirely at ease without a large squid atop his head.

For this week's Three Muses challenge - Altered Cabinet Card.
